Paul C. Ritter, 80, of Gettysburg, husband of Hannah I. Ruhe Ritter, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 5, 2020 at his home from acute leukemia.
Born on Friday, April 12, 1940 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Robert F. Ritter, Jr. and Anna Fink Ritter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and George Ritter and a sister, Clara “Toots” Lucas.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Paul served on the USS Randolph from April 25, 1957 to February 23, 1961. Paul retired in 1979 having served as a lieutenant in the Maryland State Penitentiary and later retired again in 1994 after serving as a security guard for Raytheon Technologies. He was a member of the Rosedale American Legion Post #180. He cared very deeply for his family and that started when his daughters were young and grew with every addition of spouses and children. Hannah was his love and his hobby, keeping her close to him with everything that he did. He loved Western television shows and the Yankees, with the Orioles coming in a close second.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three daughters, Terry Gerber and her husband, Tim of Rehobeth Beach, DE, Susan Bonneville and her husband, Tom of Finksburg, MD and Marci Nahory and her husband, Brian of Hanover; eight grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Tudor, Eric Phillips, Michael Phillips and his girlfriend, Sam Knopp, Morgan Madrigal and her husband, Rolando, and Caleb, Alexis and Alyssa Nahory; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Braxton Madrigal; two sisters, Altha Gunkel of FL and Beverly Mulligan of CO and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military graveside rites being rendered by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
