Obituary
Born on March 15, 1936 in Anza Antioquia, Colombia, he was a son of the late Eliseo and Maria Rosa Santana. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eliseo Santana, Jr., Francisco Luis Santana, and Mario Santana; and three sisters, Ulpiana Santana, Felicia Vallejo Santana, and Hilma Velasquez Santana.
In 1960, he received a degree in Pharmacy and Chemistry from the University of Antioquia. After coming to the United States, he retired from Utz Quality Foods following 20 years of service. Pedro was later employed by Weis Markets, where he worked in the bakery and was also a greeter at the North Hanover Walmart. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Church and enjoyed cooking and dancing.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lucinda Noel Santana and her companion, Jesse Alvarez, of Hanover; two brothers, Orlando Santana and his wife, Eloisa, and Cristobol Santana and his wife, Amelia, all of Medellin, Colombia; a sister-in-law, Amparo Santana; numerous nieces and nephews; and his grandpuppies, Barney and Peanut.
A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at 11 am Thursday, April 27, 2017 at St. Vincent dePaul Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover with The Rev. Michael P. Reid, II officiating. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 11 am Friday at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. A recitation of the Rosary will take place at 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
