Christian W. “Chris” Wagner, Jr., 69, of McSherrystown, beloved husband of Norma Jean Brady Wagner, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
Born on Friday, November 22, 1946 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Christian W. Wagner, Sr. and Doris Mae Thomas Wagner. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ellen Redding.
A 1964 graduate of Hanover High School, he was a retired employee of Hanover Dodge. Chris was a member of the Hanover Loyal Order of Moose-Lodge 227. Skilled with his hands, he took pleasure in doing projects around the house. He also enjoyed antique cars, model trains, crossword puzzles and playing the lottery.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of nearly 40 years, are his six children, David W. Wagner of McSherrystown, Laura C. Shorb and her companion, Dave Schoolcraft, Deborah J. Laughman and her husband, Troy, all of Hanover, Victoria A. Wagner and her companion, Randy Winn, of Wytheville, VA, Robin R. Welzenbach, and Kimberly M. Wagner all of McSherrystown; two sisters, Patricia A. Sanders and her husband, Joseph, of McSherrystown, and Sandra L. Fields and her husband, Farrell Ewing, of Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Gerald E. Wagner of McSherrystown, James M. Wagner and his wife, Jane, of Downington, and Phillip D. Wagner and his wife, Lynn, of Hanover; three grandchildren, Eric and Samuel Shorb, and Tyler Wagner; and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Layla and Diem.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Panebaker Funeral Home &Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
