Thomas E. McVey, Jr., 67, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Lawrence) McVey.
Born April 8, 1947 in Ansted, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Thomas and Betty (Linkenhoker) McVey.
Thomas was a 1965 graduate of Ansted High School.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served as a security police officer in the Republic of Vietnam. Upon release from military service, he worked in law enforcement in Auburn, Washington. After moving to Hanover in 1981, he worked in various food establishments including Bay City, Cactus Willie's, and the Hanover Elks.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 26 years, are a step-daughter, Kimberly Alascio and husband Angelo; grandchildren Lauren, Emily and Angelo Alascio. His brother, Joseph McVey, Ansted, West Virginia; sisters, Jordan McVey, Ansted, West Virginia and Helen Wood, Charleston, West Virginia; a niece and nephew.
Following cremation, funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, 12:00pm at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, Pennsylvania, with the Reverend John Schmalhofer officiating. A visitation will be held from 11 to 12:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
