Obituary
Clair Richard Bentzel, 87, of Hanover, peacefully entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his home.
Born June 7, 1922, in New Oxford, he was the son of the late Calvin I. and Mary H. (Molly Selby) Bentzel. Clair was the loving husband of Juanita V. (Ross) Bentzel until her passing on October 11, 2002. Together they shared 58 wonderful years. He faithfully took excellent care of Juanita for 5 years after her stroke.
Clair worked for AMP, Inc. and owned his own business, Bentzel's Radio and TV Repair in Glenville for many years. He served in World War II as Staff Sergeant for Company C 394 Infantry Regiment 99th Division, Rhineland Central Europe Campaign earning the Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. Jacob's Stone Church and the Jesus Messiah Evangelical Free Church.
He loved to carve wood and made many items for sale throughout the years.
Clair leaves behind six daughters, Nina Mayes and husband, Monte, of Arcadie, MI, Darlene Walker and husband, Gary, of Glen Rock, PA, Brenda Atkinson, and husband, Bruce, of Jacobus, PA, Charlotte Yealey, and husband, Rus, Denise Bunty and husband, Wayne, and Michelle Hagarman, all of Hanover, PA; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in California and throughout the Hanover area.
Clair was so loved by his 6 daughters, son-in-laws, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Goldie Bower, Ray Bentzel, Myrtle Pressel, and Earl Bentzel.
