Robert B. Lovelace, Jr., 93, of Hanover, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
Born Friday, July 9, 1920, he was a native of Hopewell, VA and was reared in Spring Grove. He was the son of the late Robert B. Lovelace, Sr. and Mattie Brooks Lovelace and was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Mary J. Lovelace, who died in 2012.
Mr. Lovelace retired in 1982 from York Graphic Services and served with the US Army Air Corps, as a staff sergeant, during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, York Street, and the VFW Post #2506. He enjoyed playing golf and had a six handicap in his younger days.
Survivors include two sons, Tobin Scott Lovelace and his wife, Sally, of Glenville, and Robert B. Lovelace, III and his wife, Holly, of Hanover; a twin sister, Evelyn Lee Kern of Carlisle and formerly of Spring Grove; and three grandchildren, Mauri Lovelace, Kortni Lovelace and Toby Lovelace, Jr.
As per Mr. Lovelace’s wishes, his funeral service will be private.
