Leroy Harvey Saltzgiver
February 27, 1933 - April 8, 2006
Leroy Harvey “Pean” Saltzgiver, 73, of Hanover, died Saturday, April 8th, at his residence. He was the husband of 54 years to Doris (Warner) Saltzgiver.
Born February 27, 1933, in West Manheim Township, York County, he was a son of the late George and Grace (Lippy) Saltzgiver.
Mr. Saltzgiver was an active member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover, where he was especially known for his work with children. At the age of 16, he joined the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company and continued as a member for over 55 years. Mr. Saltzgiver was a partner in Saltzgiver’s Ford Tractor, Inc., Hanover, and was a member at large of Youth For Christ in Hampstead, MD.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, David Saltzgiver and his wife Becky, of Spring Grove; two daughters, Diane Saltzgiver, of Hanover, and Dorcas Klug and her husband Dan, of Hanover; one sister, Ruth Myers, of Hanover; four brothers, George Saltzgiver, Jr., of Hanover, Robert Saltzgiver, of East Berlin, William Saltzgiver, of Hanover, Larry Saltzgiver, of Hanover; one step-grandson; and two step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Ave., Hanover, with Dr. Ron Gibson officiating. Viewings will be between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM Thursday evening at the church as well as between 10:00 AM Friday at the church until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Saltzgiver, Dan Klug, Dale Mullinix, Michael Smith, Harold Dubs, and Gerald Hempfing.
