Venetia S. Mavros, 84, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal kingdom, Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Hanover Hospital.
Born November 9, 1924, in Fort Worth, TX, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Despina (Lalas) Spinos. Venetia was the loving wife of Samuel N. Mavros, to whom she was married for 53 years until his passing in 1998.
Venetia retired from Sunoco in 1984 after 29 years of service.
She enjoyed crocheting, especially afghans, cooking, reading, and most of all doting over her beloved daughter. She possessed a special fondness of animals, especially cats and dogs, and the ability to always be there when her family and friends needed her.
Surviving are her daughter, Diane M. Hoffman, of Hanover; two grandchildren, Nathan Hoffman, also of Hanover and Stephanie Caldwell and husband, Christopher, of Norwich, CT; sister-in-law, Evangeline Luckenbaugh; brother-in-law, Alex Mavros, both of Hanover; cousins, Dimitra Nikolaidis, Joan Nikolaidis, and Diane Vergos, all of New Cumberland; and a wealth of relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Venetia was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy.
A service to remember and celebrate Venetia's life will be held 11 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover, with her Pastor, The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6 -8 PM, Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, as well as 10 - 11 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the church.
