Obituary

Robert C. Mathias, Sr., 74, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Hanover Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born March 27, 1941, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of Amelia (Zartman) Bankert and Walter Mathias. He was the step-son of Levi C. Bankert and Doris Mathias.

Robert served his country proudly in the United States Navy.

Robert retired as a machinist/maintenance mechanic, having worked at various factories throughout the area. He was also a member of the Hanover Police Department.

Robert loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

Robert is survived by his children, Sherri A. Jesko, of Hanover, PA, Kimberly A. Mathias of Ortanna, PA and Robert C. Mathias, Jr., of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Gilbert, Nathan Gilbert, Justin Gilbert, Christy Mathias, Brandy Mathias, Stephanie Mathias, and Jessica Janotta; three great grandchildren, Taliana Forbes, Kira Forbes and Ryder James Gilbert; two sisters, Jean Fisher of Hanover, PA and Joanne Emig of Lititz, PA; and one step-sister, Judy Hammond of Georgia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Mathias.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1:00-2:00PM on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Military Honors.

Serving as casketbearers will be Jeremy Gilbert, Nathan Gilbert and Justin Gilbert.
