Frank E. Murphy, Sr., 81, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Thursday, Sept. 4th, 2008 at Hanover Hall. He was the husband, for 59 years, of Constance L. Murphy who died July 6, 2007.
Born Oct. 13, 1926 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Frank L. and Lula (Heigh) Murphy.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover and was employed for many years, as a Baltimore City Police Officer, retiring in 1971. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Hampstead American Legion, the Hanover AMVETS and the Hanover Republican Club.
He is survived by four children; Frank E. Murphy, Jr. and wife Penny, Green Cove Springs, FL, Michael T. Murphy, Sr. and wife Diane, Delta, PA, Russell Murphy, Baltimore, MD and Valerie Surkin and husband Lee, Airville, PA, one sister: Eleanor Myers, Stewartstown, four grandchildren; Kimberly Hanson, Green Cove Springs, FL, Michelle Fidler, Hanover, Michael Murphy, Jr., Baltimore, MD and Kevin Murphy, Delta, PA, one great-grandson: Trent Hanson, and two great-granddaughters; Ashlee Fidler and Evelyn Hanson.
Frank was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:30am Monday at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Father Joseph F. Gotwalt officiating. Times to share memories and an opportunity for viewing will be held Sunday from 2 to 4pm and from 6 to 8pm and again on Monday from 9:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
