Sara White Fox, 95 of Harrisburg and formerly of Hanover, passed peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA.
She was the loving wife of Richard W. “Dick” Fox for 74 years prior to his passing on June 19, 2016.
Born August 13, 1921 in Charleston, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Roland A. and Mary E. (Butler) White.
Sara was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hanover and the United Methodist Women’s group. She was an accomplished artist and painted many scenes that were sold to raise money for various charities. Sara also was skilled at quilting and made many quilts over the years for family and friends. She started a day care center for children for the United Methodist Church in Parsipany, N.J. and assisted in running summer camps in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Sara is survived by her four children; Richard W. “Dick” Fox, Jr. and his wife Jean of Baldwinsville, NY, Mariles Rush and her husband Donald of Hanover, James E. “Jim” Fox and his wife Mary of Clemens, N.C. and Susan Marquart and her husband Steve of Harrisburg, PA; two brothers, Donald E. White of Ft. Mill, S.C. and Robert R. White of Erie, PA; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sara Fox will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:30am at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating. The family will receive friends for a time to share memories from 9:30am until the time of service Saturday at the church. Final committal will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
