George E. Brilhart, Sr., of Hanover, passed away peacefully on his 80th birthday, Thursday August 30, 2012 at his home. He was the Husband of Joan L. (Pfeiffer) Brilhart for 44 years.
Born August 30, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Isaac M. and Della M. (Hare) Brilhart.
George worked as a millwright for 30 years at Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD, and retired in May of 1985. He was a dedicated member of the Missionary Bible Baptist Church of Hanover, PA. Mr. Brilhart proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. George loved to travel and he also had a passion for reading, especially western novels.
Additional survivors include three sons, George E. Brilhart, Jr. and his wife Diane of Jarrettsville MD, Brian F. Brilhart of Baltimore, MD, and Warren I. Brilhart and his wife Dianna of Street, MD.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Leo F. Sheridan and Cynthia J. Sheridan.
A service to celebrate the life of George will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 5th at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Pastor Mark R. Rohnke officiating. A time to express condolences and to share memories with the family will be Tuesday from 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm at the funeral home . Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
