Robert E. Shultz, Sr., 73, of Hanover, died peacefully Friday, April 27, 2007 at Shepherd’s Choice, Gettysburg. He was the husband of 54 years of Charlotte (Rebert) Shultz.
Born September 23, 1933, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Mary V. (Runk) Shultz.
Bob was employed as a truck driver for many years. He later drove tour buses for Lincoln Bus Tours, Hanover. He retired as an inspector from BMY, later United Defense, in York in 1995. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan. In his free time, he enjoyed camping at Caledonia State Park, collecting baseball cards, and driving his Silverado truck.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are six sons, Robert E. Shultz II and his wife Becky of Spring Grove, Barry L. Shultz and his wife Linda of York, Byron D. Shultz of Hanover, Kevin D. Shultz and his wife Kim of Spring Grove, Timothy A. Shultz and his wife Barbara of New Oxford, and Mark C. Shultz and his wife Vickie of Dover; four daughters, Beverly A. Krout and her husband Dennis, Brenda K. Hoke and her companion Jeffrey McLaughlin, Connie S. Leedy and her husband Wayne, all of York, and Tammy M. Mummert and her husband Todd of Glenville; two brothers, Nevin E. Shultz and Donald Shultz, both of Hanover; one sister, Marian Furr, of Hanover; twenty-three grandchildren; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sterling Shultz; and one sister, Betty Wildasin.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with Chaplain Sally Daminger officiating. A viewing will be held between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A second viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and will run until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
Serving as pallbearers will be his six sons.
