Obituary

Helen L. Wentz, 92, of New Oxford, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Brethren Home, New Oxford, PA.

Born December 28, 1923 in Spring Grove, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Iva L. (Emig) Strausbaugh. Helen was the loving wife of the late Wilbur C. Wentz who died August 10, 2003.

Mrs. Wentz was a 1940 graduate of Spring Grove High School. She went on to own her own business, Wentz Sporting Goods, and was self-employed until her retirement in 1988.

Helen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. She enjoyed watching games shows and loved playing bingo.

Helen is survived by her children, Sally A. Whitmer of York, PA and Connie L. Light of Abbottstown, PA; one grandchild, Lisa Lillich; and two step-grandchildren, Drew Whitmer and Alex Whitmer. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest E. Strausbaugh, Jr. 

A funeral service to remember and celebrate Helen's life will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Terry McCarthy officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 and from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
