Dorothy Alverta Louise Shelleman, 78, of Hanover, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Hanover Hospital.
Born October 31, 1931, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Baker) Sponseller. Dorothy was the loving wife of Guy A. Shelleman until his passing on January 30, 2000.
She retired from Middleburg Manufacturing after 34 years of service. She was also a member of the Hanover AMVETS Post 22 Ladies Auxiliary.
Dorothy leaves behind three sisters, Esther Bouhl, of Gettysburg, Charlotte Slaybaugh, of York Springs, and Nancy Sheely, of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Sterner, Helen Hoff, and Ruth Groft and her brother, Ellsworth Sponseller.
A service to remember Dorothy's life will be held 10 AM, Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with The Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A viewing and time to share memories will be held from
6 - 8 PM, Sunday, at the funeral home.
Serving as casketbearers will be Harold Bachman, James Groft, George Slaybaugh, Jr., Gary Slaybaugh, Mike Sheely, and Eric Sheely.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to St. David's United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
