Ozella V. “Dolly” Altland, 94 of Hanover passed peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Hanover Hall. She was the wife of Grover Cleveland Altland who passed away on January 9, 1974.
Born March 15, 1920 in Hanover, PA, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Mable May (Donsen) Stevens.
Dolly was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover. She was a volunteer for many years with the P.A.L. (Provide a Lunch) program sponsored by the Hanover Area Council of Churches (HACC). Dolly was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She enjoyed crocheting and flower gardening. She especially loved listening to Country Music and playing her mandolin that was made for her by her father.
Dolly is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Earl Stevens, Richard Stevens, Veneta Dehoff, Mary Kuhn and Anna Stevens.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 9th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA with Fr. John D. Schmalhofer as celebrant. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA and again on Friday from 10am until the time of the mass at church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Pallbearers will be Steven Kaiser, Sr., Glenn Smith, Steven Kaiser, Jr., Andrew Kaiser, Mike Stevens and Mike Kuhn.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dolly’s memory to St. Vincent’s Catholic Church at the address above or to the HACC “Meals on Wheels” 136 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331
