Howard Milton Olson, 90, formerly of Hanover, PA, departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center in Scranton.
Born on July 7, 1929 in Robbinsville, NC, he was a son of Arthur Milton and Elsie Mae (Weaver) Olson and husband of the late Barbara Jennings Olson, who died in 2014. He is also preceded in death by a brother, John Olson, and a sister, Grace Myers.
A proud army veteran and graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, VA, Howard worked as an accountant and controller for many years. Howard served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher in his home churches in Virginia and New Jersey, and was a Sunday School teacher and member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hanover. He was a lifetime member of the Virginia Junior Chamber of Commerce and a leader in community and civic organizations.
Survivors include two children, Leslie K. Crincoli, and her husband, Dominick, of Tarrytown, NY, and Eric G. Olson and his wife, Celia Mitchell, of Coudersport; three brothers, William Olson and his wife, Jean, of Bossier City, LA, Martin Olson and his wife, Mary, of Uniontown, OH, and Paul Olson and his wife, Bertha, of Mont Alto; and two sisters, Helen Cline and her husband, Ronald, of Uniontown, OH, and Anne Capello of Harrisburg.
A service of remembrance will be held at 12 PM on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, with Dr. Michael R. Myers and Rev. Marciano Santos officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
