Daniel Diehl Ehrhart, III, 80, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Hanover Hospital.
Born May 19, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel D., II and Helen (Winebrenner) Ehrhart. Daniel was the loving husband of Jackie M. Ehrhart who died on December 16, 1999.
Daniel was a 1947 graduate of Eichelberger High School and a 1951 graduate of Cornell University.
Daniel was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, in Hanover, PA. He was a member of the Hanover Elks, served as a past board member and was a past president of the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Association. He was a past Board of Director of First Federal Savings and Loan, was a founding member of the Devil's Den Sportsman Association, and was a member of the Hanover Area Historical Society.
Daniel was president of Ehrhart-Conrad Company, Inc., which merged with P. A. and S. Small Company in York, PA. After leaving Small's he was one of the founders of Keystone Distribution Center in Hanover, where he served as president until he retired in 1993.
Daniel is survived by five children, Daniel D. Ehrhart IV of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Robert B. Ehrhart of Bernville, PA, Deborah E. Hryb of Darien, CT, Sharon E. Sheppard and Helen E. Bowersox both of Hanover, PA; one brother, William W. Ehrhart of Hanover, PA, one sister, Constance E. Brough of Hanover, PA; fourteen grandchildren, Kathryn Sheppard Hoar, Heather Sheppard Lunn, Thomas H. Sheppard II, Andrew Hryb, Alex Hryb, Peter Hryb, Daniel Ehrhart, Matthew Ehrhart, Drew Ehrhart, Rachel Ehrhart, Kelly Ehrhart, Colten Ehrhart, Tanner Bowersox and Linsey Bowersox; four great grandchildren, Dawson Hoar, Malcolm Hoar, Eva Lunn and Carys Lunn. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Ehrhart. Grandan will be missed by all.
A service to remember and celebrate Daniel's life will be held on August 8, 2009 at the Chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Burial will be on the family lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
