Rodger “Sock” Toomey, 81, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 9th, 2010. He was the loving husband of Mary L. (Renner) Toomey for 62 years.
Born March 4, 1929 in Conewago Twp., he was the son of the late Curvin H. and Alice C. (Menges) Toomey.
Mr. Toomey was employed at Aristokraft in Littlestown for more than 47 years as a cabinet maker, prior to retiring in 1994. “Sock” enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and also a part-time farmer.
In addition to his loving wife Mr. Toomey is survived by three children; Mary Mehring and her husband Martin, Littlestown, Rodger H. Toomey, Jr., Hanover and Michael Toomey and his wife Gail, Hanover and three grandchildren; Jessica Mehring, Nicole, and Chris Toomey. He was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Wentz.
Funeral services will be private.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
