Merle C. Hoover, 88 of New Oxford, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Brethren Home Community. He was the loving husband for 67 years of the late Janet E. (Bowman) Hoover who died September 18, 2014.
Born May 1, 1927 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Cedric and Louise (Krebs) Hoover
Mr. Hoover attended Eichelberger High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
He is survived by his loving daughter Deborah Sbraga of Cape May Court House, NJ; three grandchildren, Lisa Goodnough and husband William, Jody Scarno and husband Martin and Anthony Sbraga and wife Caroline and four great grandchildren, Katlyn, Nicole, Alec and Justin.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Merle C. Hoover will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with Pastor Dan Dellosso and Pastor Michael Osladil officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
