Mary L. Brown, 86, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Hanover Hall following a brief illness.
Born on November 9, 1930 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Peter R. Karlus, Sr. and Grace Stair Karlus and wife of the late Joseph E. Brown, who died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her half brothers, John Karlus and Peter R. Karlus, Jr.
A 1948 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she worked for many years as a cook at the Blue and White Grill. She was a devoted member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where her sweet smile and gentle spirit were welcomed and embraced. She was very friendly and enjoyed the company of others. She walked many miles around Hanover, visiting downtown merchants and sharing stories.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenna L. Grove of Gettysburg and a sister-in-law, Julie Karlus of Hanover.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover with The Rev. Russell D. Clark officiating. The viewing will be held at 9 am at the funeral home before processing to the cemetery for the service.
