Marlene (Gardner) Baker, 78, a former longtime resident of Glenville, PA died peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, PA. She was the loving wife of Joseph F. Baker, who died November 8, 2011 after 45 years of marriage.
Born December 20, 1936 in Punxsutawney, PA she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Georgia A. Gardner.
After raising her three children, Marlene was a longtime personal caregiver to many patients in the Hanover area. She loved traveling to the Shenandoah Valley and to Raystown Lake with her late husband Joe, and camping with their granddaughters.
Mrs. Baker is survived by three children, Rhonda G. Bankert and her husband Tom of Hanover, Sharon K. Owens and her life partner Tom Markley of Manheim and Douglas L. Baker and his wife Diane of Hanover; two granddaughters, Jessica Baker of Hanover and Jennifer Hill and her husband Kenny of Hanover; and two great grandsons, Bentley and Austin Hill.
The funeral service for Marlene Baker will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 29 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family will be on Tuesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Marlene’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Central PA Chapter, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or The American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
