Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth Brown, 90, passed away on October 27, 2022, in Jacksonville, Florida. A longtime resident of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Margaret moved to Jacksonville in 2015 to be near her daughters.
Born April 28, 1932, in Selinsgrove, PA, Margaret was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary
Troutman. She was a 1954 graduate of Pennsylvania State University where she majored in Speech, English, and Social Studies. As a co-ed, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta social sorority and several honorary organizations.
Margaret moved to Hanover in 1962 and served on the boards of the YWCA, Hospital Auxiliary, and the Historical Society. She was also a volunteer at Hanover Hospital and Meals on Wheels.
An active member of First United Methodist Church, she was a former lay leader and children’s
Coordinator, and former president of United Methodist Women.
Margaret loved to travel and in earlier years visited approximately 20 foreign countries. She enjoyed playing bridge, making shell flower arrangements, and reading.
She is a beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Brown (Ben Beasley) of Jacksonville Beach, FL, daughter Catherine Parrish (Rick Parrish) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and grandson Brian Parrish. She was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth Brown Atkins and son Edward Troutman Brown.
A memorial service will be held at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St, Hanover, PA, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9. Burial at Mt. Olivet cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, or an organization of your choice.
