Josephine B. (Anthony) Becker, 100, of Hanover, PA, died, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home, Gettysburg, PA.
Born June 14, 1915 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Athalia (Bange) Anthony. Josephine was the loving wife of the late Raymond E. Becker who died January 7, 1995.
Josephine was a 1933 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA.
Josephine was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA where she was an active member of the church choirs and taught Sunday School for many years. She was an original member of the Hanover YWCA Wives Club and the Homewood Auxiliary.
Mrs. Becker worked at Murphy’s 5 & 10, Lana Lobelle and retired from Hollanders (Joe the Motorist).
Josephine is survived by two children, Edgar “Ted” A. Becker and wife Eileen and Landra B. Grimm and husband Dale all of Hanover, PA; two grandchildren, Craig S. Becker and wife Kimberly of Codorus, PA, Andrea Becker of Hanover, PA; two great granddaughters, Alexandria Lopez and Breeana Becker; and one great great grandson, Owen Lopez. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Layman and one brother, Charles B. Anthony.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Josephine’s life will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 124 Broadway, Hanover, PA. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. The family will receive friends and share memories from 6 – 8 PM, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Josephine may be made to the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 124 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331.
