Obituary
John J. Dyas, age 82, of Porters Sideling, passed away at home on December 14, 2021 from complications of Parkinson's Disease and Stroke. He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Nettleship) Dyas; together they shared over 60 years of marriage.
John was born in Linthicum Heights, MD on December 25, 1938 and was the son of the late Edward J. Dyas, Sr. and Clara C. (Clauss) Dyas. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1961, John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam as a 1st Lt In 2001, John retired from Yale Materials Handling Corporation as Remarketing Manager after a 37-year career. He spent a lot of time traveling around the country for business earning him the nickname "Scrap Iron Dyas."
Moving to PA in 2002, John became a Trustee, Vice-President and President of Porters Fire Company where he ran Monday night bingo and the seafood feast, and wearing many other hats. He enjoyed collecting cars, drag racing, car rallies, gardening, and performing upkeep on his houses. John also served as Deacon at Neshaminy Warwick Church.
In addition to his wife Carol, John is survived by his son Brian J. Dyas; and his daughter Kris C. McGrew and husband Charles. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Dyas, Jr.
The internment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover at a future date, with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The funeral services are being held under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove.
