John A. Grimes, 77, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Hanover Hospital.
Born September 19, 1932 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Sirrell and Marguerite (Cashman) Grimes. John was the loving husband of Patricia A. (Miller) Grimes with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
John was a 1952 graduate of Eichelberger High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict.
John retired from the Hanover Public School District with over 30 years of service as the maintenance superintendant.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and going to Raystown Lake.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children, Tony A. Grimes and FiancAC. Rachel J. Cox, Thomas L. Grimes, and Tammy J. Bankert and husband Thomas A. Bankert, all of Hanover, PA, three grandchildren, Amber McMillion, Tessa Bankert, Ryan Cox, and one sister, Lela"Margie" Zartman of Hanover, PA. He was preceded in death by one grandson Shawn Grimes, and one sister, Betty Merrill.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember John's life will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
