Elva Lea Gallagher, age 87, of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at her home. She was the widow of Benjamin Gallagher.
She was born March 10, 1931, in Hagan, VA; the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Alveena Hobbs.
Her hobbies included reading, square dancing, bowling, and she enjoyed lunch group outings. She was a homemaker and worked at the Mark Stevens as a hostess and later at Bakers Dress Shop in sales. Lea was a member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are 2 sons, Daniel Gallagher and wife, Diane, and Benjamin "Gene" Gallagher, and wife, Chris; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy, Bryan, Gwen, Becca, Katie, Christopher; 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Thomas Gallagher.
A memorial service will be held October 13, 2018 at 2PM at the Chapel at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover followed by a graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover. The Rev. Elza Hurst will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen or the Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover and Spring Grove.
