Elouise D. George, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born January 6, 1926 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Sowers) Fuhrman. Elouise was the loving wife of Warren H. George.
Elouise was a lifetime member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.
She was a 1944 graduate of Eichelberger High School. She obtained her Nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1947. Her gentle nature and love of taking care of others was evident. She devoted a lifetime to caring for others including her husband of sixty eight years, her children, her grandchildren and thousands of people she helped over more than five decades of nursing.
Elouise retired in 2005 from the Hanover Hospital where she worked on a part-time basis the last few years of her fifty eight year career. Most of these years were spent at the Hanover Hospital. During this time, she served as a nurse in the recovery room as well as the operating room.
In her free time, Mrs. George volunteered for the Meals on Wheels and PAL Lunch program in Hanover. She also enjoyed helping at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center.
In addition to her husband Warren, Elouise is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Wilson of York, PA, her son, Andrew S. George of Morristown, NJ, four grandchildren: Jon Wilson of Honolulu, HI, Stephanie Wilson of Pacific Pallisades, CA, Devon George of Bethlehem, PA, Brielle George of Morristown, NJ, her great-grandson: Thomas Pfeiffer of Bethlehem, PA and her brother, Earl Fuhrman. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Fuhrman, Glenn Fuhrman and her sister, Joyce Fuhrman.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Bruce P. Bouchard officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers,contributions in memory of Elouise may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
