Ella Katherine Firor, 82, of Hanover, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Hanover Hospital. She was the wife of Harry E. Firor, who died March 19, 1971.
Born March 9, 1925, in Shelbyville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Ada (Heady) Harding.
Katherine was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover. She was employed with the Hanover Public School District for 21 years as a crossing guard. Katherine loved going to horse races at both Penn National and Charlestown. She also enjoyed the races at Lincoln Speedway. In her free time, Katherine loved gardening, collecting music boxes, and reading autobiographies.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen N. Firor and his wife Linda, of Broken Arrow, OK, and Edmund L. Firor, of Hanover; three daughters, Jane E. Moore and her husband Russell, of Austin, PA, Virginia Trite and her husband Thomas, of Harrisburg, and Lori A. Firor, of Hanover; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael David Firor; one brother; two sisters; and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover. Viewing will be held between 10 and 11 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
