Obituary
Eileen F. Cooper, 91, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Brethren Home Community.
Born February 28, 1924 in Hastings, NE, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Guy) Weber. Eileen's mother passed away just days after giving birth, so at a young age, she moved to Central City, Nebraska and was raised by her dear aunt and uncle, Dr. Fred and Wilma Fouts. She was the wife of the late Earl L. Cooper who passed September 14, 2010.
Mrs. Cooper graduated from high school in 1942. She then attended St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska where she received her nurse's training. During the last six months of her training, she volunteered to serve as a Cadet Nurse in the Kearney Hospital, which was also an Air Force Base in Nebraska.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #169. Eileen was a life-long fan of anything related to Nebraska. She was quite proud of her heritage. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed playing bingo and after their children were grown, Eileen and her husband, Earl became the loving owners of St. Bernards and other dogs that proved to be real companions.
Eileen greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband Earl. Together, they visited forty-nine of the United States and completed trips to many other countries.
Eileen is survived by her children; Carolyn A. "Bunny" Harman and husband Donald of Hanover, PA, Kenneth E. Cooper and wife Jane of Hanover, PA, Gary L. Cooper and wife Sharon of Punta Gorda, FL, Kathleen K. Nace and husband Ted of The Villages, FL, her five grandsons, Pat Cooper, Joel Nace, Doug Cooper, Kyle Nace, Rev. Ryan Nace and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Carroll Luckenbaugh and her grandson, Rev. Ryan Nace officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
