Diana Lynn (Long) Whisler, 59 of Abbottstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at home surrounded by family and friends. She was the loving wife of Frederick L. Whisler of Abbottstown. Born July 13, 1955 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Betty Louise (Bowers) Long and Charles D. Long, Sr. and his wife Patricia (Byers) Long of Westminster, MD. Diana was involved in many activities related to Breast Cancer Support Programs including the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure, the local Pink Out Fund, Relay for Life and Strides Against Breast Cancer. She was also a member of local street rod and hot rod clubs for many years. Diana loved to camp and travel, especially to Daytona, FL and Disney World. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, and gardening at home. In addition to her father and husband, Diana is survived by, two sons, Daniel Watkins and his wife Alice of Westminster, MD, Travis Barnhart and his wife Rachel of York; daughter, Amanda Coveney and her husband Bill of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Alicia and Danny Watkins, Jr. of Westminster, MD; Owen and Griffin Barnhart of York; brother Charles D. Long, Jr. of Newark, DE; three sisters Eurith "Chucki" Long-Emerson of Hanover, Vicki Norris of Hagerstown, MD, Bobbi Jo Russ of Westminster, MD, and many other loving extended family members and friends. A time to share memories with the family will be from 9am to 11am on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. A celebration of Diana's life will follow at 11 am with Pastor Tina Minnich officiating at the same location. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Diana's Memory to Pink Out, Inc. 1150 Carlisle Street Suite 10, Box 189 Hanover, PA 17331.
