Charlotte Irene Kopp, 87, of Orlando, FL and formerly of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home at her youngest son’s residence in Casselberry, Florida on July 26,2023 at 1:00 AM. Charlotte was born in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania on April 2,1936 to the late Elwood Martin and Irene Smyser-Martin. Charlotte was a graduate of Spring Grove High School in 1953. Charlotte attended Travis Vocational Technical School in Lakeland, FL from August 1989 to May 1990 when she graduated with her LPN and started her nursing career which spanned 32 years. She was very dedicated to her patients. Charlotte’s nursing career included oncology nursing at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for 10 years and Vitas Hospice of Central Florida nursing for 22 years. She was a member of the Aloma Church in Winter Park, Florida.
Charlotte leaves behind two daughters, Lori Beck of Coconut Creek, FL and her husband, Steve Beck and daughter Tanya Walters of Spring Grove, Pa. and two sons, Craig Kopp of Casselberry, son of the late Dale Kopp, and Keith Wildasin of Hanover. Charlotte also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Anabelle Wildasin, Tyler Kopp, Gabi Kopp and Sophia Kopp.
Charlotte also leaves behind 3 siblings, brother Mahlon Martin of Seven Valleys and his wife Beverly, sister Loretta Warner of Hanover and her husband Gilbert and sister Faye Ream of Felton. She was predeceased by her brother Mearl Martin and her eldest of 5 children, Dollie Durrance and son-in-law Philip Walters.
Charlotte was an exceptionally creative person as she had many talents. She enjoyed singing and leading the church adult and youth choirs during her time in Lakeland, Florida at Faith Lutheran Church and playing music on the piano and organ in church and at home. She was also a talented artist of several hundred oil paintings of many beautiful Pennsylvania and Florida scenes of barns, covered bridges and wildlife. Many of her paintings have her signature red cardinal which her and her husband Dale both loved. Charlotte also loved to garden and plant flowers in her backyard as well as crochet with her having made several hundred crochet Afghans over the years. Charlotte was a passionate, loving and kind soul that loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Charlotte will be held 10:30AM, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30AM, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Charlotte’s name to Vitas of Central Florida, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751.
