Charles E. Lawyer, 73, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Hanover Hospital.
Born October 26, 1935, in Heidlersburg Township, he was the son of the late John D. and Mary M. (Altland) Lawyer. Charles was the loving husband of Joanne (Gouker) Lawyer, whom he married January 22, 1955.
Charles retired from Hanover Foods in 1997 after 26 years of service.
In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to Joanne, his wife of 54 years, Charles is survived by two children, Anna L. Mummert and husband, Richard, of New Oxford and David M. Lawyer, of Hanover; three grandchildren, Susanne Mummert, Maryland, Christopher Mummert, of New Oxford, and Chelsey Lawyer, of Indiana; and one great grandson, Chase Unger, of Maryland; two brothers, Roy Lawyer, of Hanover and Jerry Lawyer, of York; two sisters, Shirley Groft and Ruth Utz, both of Hanover.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, John Lawyer, Raymond Lawyer, and Floyd Lawyer.
All services will be private.
