OBITUARY

Charles A. “Charlie” Brown, 82 of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Elaine M. (Lau) Brown. 

Born on August 4, 1933 in Hanover, Charles was a son of the late Ira and Marie (Staley) Brown. 

Charles retired from Doubleday in 1996 after 30 years. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a former member of the Hanover Republican Club, the VFW and the Hanover Moose. Charles and Elaine enjoyed many road trips as well as dancing and relaxing on the beach. He was also a very skilled woodworker. 

In addition to his wife Elaine, Charles is survived by 1 son, Stephen Brown and his wife, Debra of Longwood, FL; his grandson, Jacob Brown and his wife Jennifer of Atlantic Beach, FL and his granddaughter, Nancy Hale and her husband Tray of Grapevine, TX.; 3 great-grandchildren: Elijah Brown, Lila Brown and McKinley Hale. He is also survived by 4 brothers: Lewis Brown and his fiancé Marilyn Miller of Hanover, Phillip Brown and his wife Nancy of Abbottstown, PA, Michael Brown and his wife Nancy of Hanover, PA and Robert Brown and his wife Susan of Mesa, AZ. 

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Brown, Jr. and his sister Barbara Brown. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. There will be an opportunity to view on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
