Benjamin Franklin Gallagher, Jr., 77, died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Homewood Plum Creek Nursing Home. Born January 20, 1931, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Grace Gallagher. In addition to his parents, son, Thomas, and brothers, Clarence, John, Paul, and Albert Gallagher preceded him in death. Benjamin is survived by his loving wife, Lea Gallagher; two sons, Dan and wife, Diane Gallagher, and Gene and wife, Chris Gallagher; six grandchildren; three sisters, Helena Moore, Ruth Keilholtz, and Catherine Philips; and brother, Bill Gallagher. He was a member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a member of the choir and was part of the church council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling. Benjamin gave 21 years of service to the U.S. Army. He retired in 1969 as CSM and served in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army, he worked for 18 years at New Way Packaging and at Faulkner Pontiac, GMAC. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore St., Hanover. Pastor Arthur Grahe will be officiating. Arrangements are by Auer Cremation Services of PA, Inc., Harrisburg.
