Arlene Griffith

October 6, 1944 - January 19, 2012

Arlene (Dell) Griffith, 67, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at home.

Born October 6, 1944 in Hanover she was one of fourteen children of the late Charles E. and Margaret E. (Jacobs) Dell.

Arlene worked extremely hard for everything she had. She was a strong independent resilient woman. She was employed for the past fifteen years as a short order cook at the Hanover AMVETS until last year. Arlene enjoyed playing the lottery and especially playing scratch tickets. She also enjoyed going to the beach and doting on her pet Chihuahua “Baby”. What Arlene enjoyed most in life was her family, namely her daughter Sherri and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sherri (Millhimes) Bell and her husband Steve, Anaconda, MT; three grandchildren, Eric Horstick, Ann Arbor, MI, Amber (Bell) Bromley and her husband Donald, Anaconda, MT and Alicia Bell, Bozeman, MT; two sisters, Margaret Becker, Hanover and Gladys Curry, Spring Grove; and two brothers, Donald and Jimmy Dell both of Hanover. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Jr., Robert, Paul, Vernon and Melvin Dell and four sisters, Henrietta Wooters, Beatrice Dell, Florence Neiderer and Phyllis Simons.

A service to celebrate the life of Arlene Griffith will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Pastor Timothy J. Kielley, officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Monday evening from 6 to 8:00pm and again from 10am until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
